SkinStudio is an excellent program that gives you full control over Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista styles. The program allows you to edit almost all style components, such as start menu, button controls, menus, menu bars, scrollbars, taskbars, status bars and more. The program consists of 12 tabs.

The "Full Preview" tab shows an overview of all skin parts altogether. The "Edit Controls" tab allows you to edit controls such as button, comboboxes, headerbars, pregressbars, scrollbars, tab controls and more, you can set the image, text, layers, colors, font, etc. for each control of them. The "Edit startmenu and taskbar" tab enables you to edit Vista control panel and navigation parts, edit Internet Explorer 7 tabs, icons and animations, edit "Please Wait" screen and various explorer shell parts.

The "Window XP Animation" tab provides a lot of fun by allowing you to change all animations such as copying, moving, deleting files and others. The "Edit titlebars and frames" tab allows changing colors and text properties for all windows frames and titlebars. The "Change skin colours" tab is responsible for managing system-defined colors and skins' color presets. The "change skin fonts" tab allows editing of all fonts used in different parts of your windows skin.

The programmers of this nice utility didn't forget to make a special tab for changing the Windows XP Shell screens, such as the logoff and shutdown dialogs. The "Backgrounds" tab allows you to include a wallpaper for any skin while the "Theme part details" tab is responsible for editing many elements of Windows Explorer. The last tab is called "How do I?" and it offers you help for using the program.

The program is based on Windows Blinds and requires it to be preinstalled in order to edit skins.
